All kinds of people have experienced positive results from yogic practice. So can you.
Everybody can benefit from yoga, yet so many people never even enter a yoga classroom. Why does this happen? It is a simple answer; fear, resistance, and doubt. The common belief that yoga requires flexibility, strength, and youth has absolutely nothing to do with what yoga is. The individual who yearns for more from life, and that can benefit most from yoga, often discards yoga before exploring it’s possibility.
What is yoga?
It’s an ancient science that allows a person to discover who they are and to come at peace with themselves, with others, and the world as it is. Authentic yoga allows a person to do more than touch their toes. It allows the individual to quiet the restless mind and to discover depths to their internal and external relationships that they never knew existed, yet that have always been present and has continuously guided their life. Yoga’s primary purpose remains to strengthen the relationship with our soul and the universe.
How does yoga work?
By aligning the body, spirit, mind and soul. The common experiences of lowered stress, flexibility of body and beliefs, increased vitality, relaxing sleep, positive attitudes, improved concentration, mental acuity, physical and emotional strength, and meditative silence are the natural, secondary results of yoga. The benefits of yoga effortlessly unfold by knowing yourself and developing the primary soul level relationship.
Why does yoga work?
Yoga does not work because you learn yoga postures or sweat a lot. Yoga happens by unlearning habits, beliefs, attitudes, emotional, psychological and mental patterns. By releasing subconscious ideologies that do not serve us and by doing more of that brings positive results, yoga happens. You do not learn postures and know yoga. Instead, you already know yoga, and discover that truth and bring it into every area your life by releasing life-exhausting patterns.
How do you start yogic practice?
You start now, and now is the same place where yoga ends. Knowing how to use the breath, body and mind happens after the commitment to self-discovery. Once a person is dedicated, the process unfolds easily and naturally with every step of soulful insight within every moment.
The subtle techniques of yoga empowers you to believe in yourself and to act courageously in ways alien to habitual thoughts and habits. In my experience, there is no individual who does not yearn for more in their life. Often they don’t know what they yearn for, how to be fulfilled, or they simply believe they cannot and never try. Yoga encourages this challenging path by requiring you to trust and believing in yourself and to take the next step.
Is there an artist, musician, writer, speaker, athlete, mathematician, scientist, or any person who focuses on their talent or skill who does not know yoga ? No. We all know yoga, it effortlessly happens for most people by concentrating on what we love.
The challenge is to bring that silence, focus, intensive insight, concentration and power of intention into every aspect of life. Yoga allows the accidence of silence that happens through a few specific actions to become deliberate stillness in every area of life and in all relationships. As a result, human potential unfolds in unexpected ways, brightening the joy of the living experience and unleashing the natural genius of each person.
